Forest, MS
Forest is a charming community that brings much to the landscape of East Mississippi. A fun fact about Forest is, the original town charter was granted to the “Town of Forrest,” 70 years later, the Governor of Mississippi issued a proclamation stating the “Town of Forrest” would be designated the “City of Forest.” This new charter effectively changed the town’s name from being spelled with two “r”s to a single “r.”
With both chicken processing and farming being the number employer in the area, Forest and Scott County are often referred to as the poultry capital of the world. The importance of the poultry industry is evident by the events throughout the community – the rivalry game between Forest High and Scott County Rival Morton High is affectionately known as the Battle of the Golden Chicken, while the towns largest event of the year is the Wing Dang Doodle Chicken Festival.
Community Bank and it’s staff have been a staple in this community for over 115 years and are proud to call Forest home!
