We can all agree that saving is important. Don’t we all wish we had started saving a little earlier in life?

Teaching our children the importance of saving early and often is something Community Bank feels is crucial to a strong financial future. By hosting events in our communities, like our recent I’m a Super Saver event, that was hosted in Biloxi, MS, we hope to spark positive attitudes and habits around money.

The I’m a Super Saver event featured special guest Meggan Gray, co-anchor of Good Morning Mississippi. Gray read the book “Corduroy” to the children, making saving both fun and relational for them. The book tells the story of a teddy bear named Corduroy, and how Lisa, who was eager to buy him, had to use the money she had saved to purchase her new friend.

Each child received a copy of the book “Corduroy” to take home with them. The kids were also invited, along with their parents, to decorate their very own piggy bank to take home as a way to encourage them to save.

Being committed to our children and their financial future is important not only to lay a solid foundation, but to ensure they are aware of how banking works and how important it is to have a bank committed to you.
