Matt Mayo Appointed to the Mississippi Board of Education
Matt Mayo, Chief Banking Officer, was recently appointed by Governor Tate Reeves to the State Board of Education representing the First Supreme Court District. A native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Mayo, has been in the banking industry for twenty-seven years, serving twelve of those years at Community Bank. As an appointed board member to the State Board of Education, Mayo is responsible for the adoption of rules and regulations, setting standards and policies for the organization, as well as operations, management, planning, budgeting, and programs of the Mississippi State Department of Education.
Mayo is a graduate of The University of South Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Banking, as well as Samford University with a Master of Business Administration. He is also a graduate of The Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.
Active in his community, Mayo currently serves on the board for the athletic booster club for Northwest Ranking High School. Previously, Mayo has served in various capacities, including the board of the Lamar County School District, and the advisory board for the Dubard School for Language Disorders. Mayo is a 2021 graduate of Leadership Mississippi.
Mayo is married to Rachael, together they have three children, Allison, Anna Ryan, and Landon.
